Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of circulating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof disproving her claim in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
